Things to Do in Kuala Lumpur

There are a myriad of exciting activities and things to do in Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding Klang Valley, from thrilling city explorations to dazzling amusement parks. Following are a few of the unique entertainments of this colourfully varied cosmopolitan area.

Spectacular view venues overlooking the glittering city and lush mountain surroundings are among Kuala Lumpur’s major attractions, including the ultra-high Petronas Towers and the super-soaring Menara KL Tower. Incorporating graceful elements of Islamic and Arabian design, the 88-storey chrome and steel Petronas twins are joined by a sleek 41st floor Skybridge affording jaw-dropping views of the capital. Between the towers lie a gorgeous park, upscale shopping centres, and a magnificent concert hall. Visible from almost anywhere in the city, Menara KL’s iconic spindle-like apex soars to 421 metres and boasts a viewing deck over 100 metres higher than Petronas Towers.

The region also boasts world-class amusement parks. Just 50 kilmetres outside the capital, Genting Highlands is one of Malaysia’s premier tourist destinations, and boasts a world-class casino, 18-hole golf course, horse ranch, and enormous outdoor theme park. You can get there by car or via the scenic Genting Skyway gondola ride from Kuala Lumpur. The spectacular lands of the indoor/outdoor theme park, largest in Malaysia, include heart-stopping rollercoasters; enchanting children’s fantasy worlds; a smashing water-park; an indoor snow-world; and a Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum. Originally a satellite township of Kuala Lumpur, nearby Petaling Jaya is home to another major amusement park, Sunway Lagoon, featuring three thrilling worlds spread over 33 hectares: Wild Wild West, World of Adventures, and Waters of Africa.
