Langkawi Hotels

A wonderful holiday in lush Langkawi hotels doesn’t have to cost a five-star fortune; the silky-sand-fringed little paradise is home to a number of reasonably priced hotels and resorts, with beaches and views as spectacular as those of its opulent neighbours. Many of the cheapest digs are around Kuah, Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah; and range from backpacker dorm-style lodgings to modest hotels and small resorts. The following are some popular budget destinations.

Conveniently close to Kuah’s duty-free shops, the 43-room Citin Hotel offers cheerfully decorated basic accommodation including LCD TV’s, hot showers and some air-conditioning. Featuring amazing prices and a lovely waterfront location, the Bella Vista Langkawi is a fairy-tale castle with guestrooms offering LCD TV’s, rain-showers, internet access, and ocean or garden views. Other modestly-priced hotels include the Hotel Langkasuka, the Aseania Resort, the Eagle Bay Hotel and the Grand Continental.

A little resort with a long beach, the environmentally friendly Frangipani Resort Langkawi is a superior value. Rooms are in two-story blocks, and sea-view villas feature cool roof-top showers. The resort offers a great restaurant, two outdoor pools, water-sport equipment, and the laid-back Coco Beach Bar. Amenities include air-conditioning, cable TV and in-house movies.

A little pricier than Frangipani and loads of fun for kids, the Pelangi Beach resort specializes in leisure activities for the whole family. Comfy, spacious, high-ceilinged wooden chalets have one, two or four bedrooms with super-comfy beds and soft down pillows. The endless stream of activities includes tennis, health club, boating excursions, water-sports, mini-golf, squash and two pools with swim-up bars. Choose from among three excellent restaurants and three lively lounges for tropical night-time fun.
